yes i got a selloff from skull leader

getting a selloff is not against the rules...if you are willing to sacrifice some soldiers for the amount of oil...then it is perfectly legal...funky implemented the oilburn feature to curb the amount of selloffs...not stop them entirely

yeah it would be very hard to stop it...the only way would be to take out the attack feature of the game...which is pretty much the basis of the game...but the oilburn feature was a very good idea...made me think long and hard about it

If you do that, Oil Burn Level 2 will kick in and you'll lose a lot of oil. That's why Oil Burn exists :lol:

Go for it. If you attack 12 people and get oilburn youll lose so many soldiers its not even funny. Itll be a nice boost for then but after that you're pretty much toast. seeing as you only have 95,000 right now by the time you're done farming 12 accounts youll have almost no soldiers.. unless oilburn loses a percent which i don't think was expressed.

oilburn loses a certain number of soliders based on the amount of oil stolen, up to a maximum % times the number of attacks. For a 15 attack sweep, the maximum can range from 1%-2% for attackers and 2%-4% for defenders.

If you get oilburn level 2 on 15 targets whom you attack 30 times each, well there goes easily 45% of your fighting force.

and yes, we do frown upon selloffs. theres not much that can be done about it currently, so as i said it isnt specifically illegal, but not encouraged by any means

im thinking of doing an account tracking kind of thing, where i can get a good idea wether or not specific accounts are owned by the same person. it won't be foolproof so i wont ban / delete accounts based on it. The purpose behind it will be two fold:

1) help me figure out when someone has multiple accounts, and to be able to substantiate user claims to the same.

2) i will modify the oil burn feature so that if it thinks you are attacking an account that you also control, then if you would normally get an oilburn 1 you will get an oilburn 2, and if you would normally get an oilburn 2, then you will get a new oilburn 3 (somewhere around 75%-85% of oil burns and casualties are somewhere around double burn level 2). because the account link tracking would not be foolproof, there would be no penalty if you would normally not incur an oilburn.

the foolproof way woudl be to set up a program that with every login in to an account checks which IP address has logged into said account and then if it gets two different accounts logged in with the same IP it sends you something or it just saves all info onto somethign then you can go through it.

unfortunately that wouldnt work. firstly, people dont always get the same ip, actually they can use proxies to fake it. secondly, many computers often get the same ip. like if 10 people at your school play the game because you told them all to play it, your school might have one external ip address for hundreds of computers. theres no foolproof way to know.

well in total, theres a lot i can do to prevent selloffs from people who own both the sold account and the buying account.

and when i say theres a lot i can do, i mean i have to do a lot of different piddly things in order to sum up to something halfway effective. and the kicker is someone will always find a way around it.

i'd rather put in restrictions that effect everyone equally like oilburn rather than put in a system that gives the hardcore exploiters even more of an advantage than the average player.

i plan to try to develop a system that can better detect selloffs and multiple accounts and not allow it, but its not going to be here really soon.
